
Mangalore, Dec 17, 2013: Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Trust said that 15 achievers from across the state will be conferred with Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri-Virasat Awards at Vidyagiri, Moodbidri on December 22, Sunday.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Dec 17, Tuesday he said that the Nudisiri-Virasat Awards comprising of Rs 25,000 cash prize, a memento and a citation will be conferred on Dr P Dayanand Pai, Jayanth Kaikini, Dr H S Venkatesh Murthy, Dr D K Chowta, Fakir Ahmed Katapady, Dr Kamala Hampana, Hiremagalur Kannan, Dr B M Hegde, Dr Na Mogasale, Kumble Sundar Rao, Uma Kulkarni, T N Seetharam, Moodnakodu Chinnaswami, organizations Mangalore Basel Mission and Shimoga Karnataka Sangha, during the valedictory ceremony to be held at 3.30 pm.


State minister for Kannada and culture Umashri will inaugurate the event on December 20, while Dr Vinay Hegde of Nitte University will preside over the event.
Dr B A Vivek Rai, president of the convention, outgoing DC N Prakash Sarvottham Shetty, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, and Raj Kumar, president of Bahrain Kannada Sangha will grace the event.
Dr M Veerappa Moily, union minister for petroleum and natural gas will deliver the valedictory address. The event will comprise of three convention sessions, four discussions and variety of cultural events.
Prior to the event, the Horekanike and the inaugural procession will be held in Moodbidri area accompanied by 5000 artistes belonging to 300 groups. Sukri Bommana Gowda, folk song artiste will inaugurate the grand procession.
Litterateurs, scholars, writers and poets from all over the state and country along with foreigners will participate in Vishwa Nudisiri-Virasat, he said.
He also said that he has been conducting the annual programmes of the Alva’s in the money taken as loan and he has to repay the amount of Rs 80 crore to the banks.
