All arrangements in place for counting of votes on May 8

dc harsh gupta13may7 1Mangalore, May 7, 2013: With the fate of 71 candidates who contested from eight assembly constituencies of the district sealed in the electronic voting machines,  there is anxiety as well as curiosity all over. Just a few hours are left for counting to begin on May  8 at  8 am.

The DC Harsh Gupta informed that counting of votes in EVMs and postal ballots will be taken up simultaneously. He said the votes polled in each constituency will be counted in 15 to 20 rounds. A counting supervisor, counting assistant, a micro observer and an agent representing the candidate will be present in the counting room, the DC said.

He further informed that some of the new initiatives taken this time like live webcasting and control rooms were successful. The success rate of webcasting was 73 per cent, the DC said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dayanand and MCC Commissioner Dr K Harish Kumar were present.
