All India Radio organizes folk and light music festival

Mangalore, July 25, 2012 : A folk music and light music concert was arranged as part of Akashvani Regional Folk and Light Music Festival organized by All India Radio, Mangalore on the evening of Monday at Ravindra Kalabhavan, University College.

The highlight of the event was the folk music concert featuring Bala Brahmachari and troupe from Hyderabad and Mahadeva Swami and troupe from Mysore. Bala Brahmachari presented a number of songs in Telugu, some of which were Chappeda Gurmahima Telsukondi, a song in praise of a deity in Shrishailam, Yeme Budukike Yeme Badukanna, a philosophical song, and others.

Mahadeva Swami of Mysore presented a 30-minute song on Mante Swamy, a song on various changes in Kaliyuga, requiring the reincarnation of Siddalingaswamy to put things right. Mahadeva Swami was accompanied by Nanjundaswamy, Mahadeva, Shivamurthy, and others.

Earlier, B. R. Geetha of Bangalore presented numbers such as Namageke Nalla Naaleya Chinte by B. R. Lakshman Rao, Ninna Horatu Baduku Shoonya by Doddarange Gowda, Tanu Ninnadu Mana Ninnadu by M. N. Vysarao, and others.
