Airports Authority staff union stage hunger strike against privatization moves

Mangalore, Oct 26, 2013 : A serial hunger strike organised by the Airports Authority Employees Union in protest against the Union Government notification on privatization of airports, concluded on October 25, Friday.

 

The serial hunger strike was launched on October 22 at the airport as per the call given by the national union.

The Union in a press communique has informed that in the next phase there are plans to gherao the chiefs of various divisions of the airport, in protest against the government move towards privatization.

Taking strong exception to the privatization moves, the Union said it was not proper to go in for privatization when almost all airports are functioning satisfactorily.

Gopalkrishna, President of the Mangalore Airport Authority Employees Union, VM Shivanna, General Secretary and others  participated in the protest.
