After train thief; a hospital thief arrested in Kasargod

 Kasargod, June 26, 2013: If a laptop thief was arrested in a train by the police recently, this time they have arrested a hospital thief.

Kasargod police have arrested one Basheer (50) from Chengala who used to steal valuables from patients and people arriving in hospitals. He was arrested from the Kasargod Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).

Seven cell phones, a laptop and some gold ornaments have been seized. It is learnt the ornaments belonged to a patient while the laptop was that of a doctor. The arrest was made possible with the help of CCTV footages of the hospital.

Interrogations of the arrested revealed that he was responsible for thefts in various hospitals after keeping a watch on the patients.

The arrest followed several complaints which the police received regarding thefts in hospitals. It is learnt, he who first worked as a watchman at a hospital at Vidyanagar later worked as a truck driver and had remained jobless since some time.
