Mangalore, Apr 17, 2013: After a lot of confusion, Moidin Bava, the Congress candidate from Mangalore North constituency, filed his nomination papers with Election Officer Ajith Kumar Hegde at MUDA office on April 17, Wednesday.
Moidin Bava who arrived at the MUDA office at 1.30 pm made the media and his supporters wait for two and half hours outside the MUDA office.
Bava was accompanied by some of his supporters in padayatra held from Kuloor to MUDA office, while his other supporters were seen waiting outside the gate.
Speaking on the occasion, Bava said that the Congressmen will work with unity for the party. He also said that former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty, had assured him that he will not file his nomination as independent candidate.
He said he was sure of a victory and added he was filing his nomination with the blessings of senior Congress leaders like Janardhan Poojary and Sonia Gandhi. He also assured that if he wins, he will work for the welfare of the people of his constituency and will also expose the failures of the BJP.
Pointing out that under the present CDP, poor were unable to construct houses, Bava said a Congress rule would ensure justice to the lay man.
Congress leaders like Ivan D’Souza, Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Prithviraj and others were present.
Gulam Mohammed has also filed his nomination from JD(S) from the Mangalore North Constituency at MUDA office. He was also accompanied by his supporters in the procession.
