Affordable housing Policy on anvil: Minister Ambarish

Mangalore, Oct 18, 2013 :  State Housing Minister Ambarish has said that the  government has  chalked out an Affordable Housing Policy  in order to enable  the economically weaker sections own a house.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Speaking to reporters after  reviewing the progress of housing schemes at the DC office on October 17, Thursday, Ambarish said  the government would be making all out efforts to implement the policy under Public Private Partnership Model. He said 40 per cent of the houses will be offered to economically weaker sections at a lower price while 60 per cent of the houses will go to construction firms.

Ambarish said the scheme has already been discussed  at the Cabinet meet and has received its  approval. The project would be finalized in two months, he informed.

 The Minister also informed that  the construction of a total of 5 lakh houses including 11000 houses   in DK district have been  withheld for violation of rules under the Basava Housing Scheme. He said talks will be held with the CM to   end the deadlock.

On the demand to extend the time limit for construction of houses  under Basava Housing scheme considering the  untimely rains in the district, the minister said the demand would be taken into consideration.
