
Mangalore, Mar 7, 2014: Prof. M Janaki Brahmavar the new President of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy said the Academy which has already brought out text books for Class VIII and IX will bring out Tulu text books for Class X very shortly.

Speaking to reporters at the Academy Office here on March 6, Thursday, Prof, Janaki said more and more students must opt to learn Tulu in schools and this will in a way help in realising the vision of inclusion of Tulu in Eighth Schedule of Constitution.
She also said she would give due importance to promotion of Tulu language in schools. She said the Academy works have been hindered since the past ten months owing to the absence of a President and assured to chalk out an action plan for the promotion of the language once elections are over so that funds could be granted to the same by the Government.
She said she would work towards setting up Tulu Sanghas in educational institutions and starting certificate and diploma courses in Tulu.
Prof. Janaki also informed that the works of the Tulu Bhavan are progressing and that 40 per cent of the works are complete by spending the Rs 3 crores sanctioned by the government.
The budget for the Bhavan construction has been revised to Rs 7 crores, said Dr B Chandrahas Rai, Registrar of the Academy.
The newly appointed members of the Academy are Vasanth Shetty Bellare, Roopakala Alva, Krishnappa, Raghuveer, Prof.Vedavathi, DM Kulal, Jayasheela, Mohan Koppala, Subhashchandra Padival and Durgaprasad Rai.
