
Mangaluru, Jun 12, 2026: Police have arrested an accused who had been absconding and failing to appear before the court in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused, identified as Naman Nayak (32), a resident of Narimogaru in Puttur, was wanted in connection with a case registered at the Puttur Town Police Station under Crime No. 53/2018. The case was booked under Sections 448, 506 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 12 of the POCSO Act.
According to police, Naman Nayak had been evading trial despite a warrant being issued against him. Acting on credible information, Puttur Town Police traced and apprehended him from Koodlu Gate in Bengaluru.
The accused was produced before the court, which remanded him to 15 days of judicial custody.
