AI’s Rapid Growth Demands Responsible Use, Says Google Cloud VP at MAHE Convocation

Manipal, Nov 23, 2025: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping every sector, and the challenges posed by emerging technologies extend far beyond technical, medical, and managerial domains, said Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice-President, Asia Pacific Strategic Initiatives, Google Cloud, on Saturday.

Speaking on the second day of the 33rd convocation of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Mr. Bedi urged graduates to adopt a responsible approach to innovation. “Don’t just ask, ‘Can we build this or can we use it,’ but also ask, ‘Should we build this or should we use this?’” he said. He encouraged students to apply their skills not only for personal advancement but also for the welfare of society.

Drawing from his three decades of experience across technology, start-ups, and leadership roles, Mr. Bedi said careers today are shaped by constant challenges and technological shifts. The key to long-term success, he noted, lies in the ability to reinvent oneself continuously.

MAHE Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh also addressed the gathering. MAHE Pro-Chancellor H.S. Ballal and trustee Vasanti R. Pai were present.

A total of 1,651 students received their degrees during the ceremony, including 48 PhD scholars. Three students were honoured with the Dr. TMA Pai Gold Medal.
