A baby dies after swallowing beedi stub carelessly discarded by father

Mangaluru, June 17, 2025: In a tragic incident, a ten month old baby died after swallowing a beedi stub discarded by his father inside their house at Adyar. The deceased child is Anish Kumar, son of a couple from Bihar.

The child had swallowed the stub on June 14 Wednesday and was soon rushed to Wenlock Hospital. However, despite treatment, the baby died on June 15.

The child’s mother has lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the father of the child had carelessly discarded the beedi stub inside the house despite several requests not to do so.
