6 Senior Journalists from DK among 145 chosen for Karnataka Madhyama Academy Awards

Mangaluru, Feb 11, 2023: The Karnataka Media Academy has announced annual awards for the year 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 for excellence in journalism. Six journalists from Dakshina Kannada district are among those who have been chosen for the awards.

The senior journalists from DK who have won the Awards are Anand Shetty, P B Hariprasad Rai, Guruvappa Balepuni, R. Ramakrishna, Ravindra Shetty and Srinivas Nayak Indaje.

Suresh Belagaje, Raviprakash, Sudhakara Darbe, Sukanya, Jyothi Irvathoor are also from DK among the awardees. Jayakirana Kannada Daily chosen for Aandolana Award for the year 2022 and Girish Rao for Aragini Award for year 2019. Pradeep H. Murodi’s writeup won the Mysuru Digantha award.

In all, 124 journalists will be given the annual awards for four years while 21 journalists will get the endowment awards. The Lifetime Achievement Award carries a purse of Rs 50,000 while the annual award winners will get Rs 25,000 each and a plaque. The endowment awards carry a purse of Rs 10,000 each, according to an official statement from the Karnataka Media Academy.

The list of recipients of the annual and endowment awards was announced after a meeting chaired by Academy chairman Sadashiva Shenoy.
