5 arrested for stealing iron, sheets rods worth Rs 18 lakhs

Udupi, Oct 14, 2023: Police have arrested five persons on charges of stealing iron sheets and rods from Hejamady port area. A complaint was earlier lodged alleging that iron sheets and rods worth nearly Rs 18 lakh were stolen between August 24 and September 25.

 

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Haseeb, Nizamuddin, Mohammed Hafeez and Mohammed Ashir K and Hamza Belthangady.

Police seized iron sheets worth Rs 5,76,653, iron rods worth Rs 61,382, a Tata Ace vehicle worth Rs 3 lakhs, a pick-up vehicle worth Rs 5 lakhs and an Innova car worth Rs 7 lakhs from the accused.
