4 fishermen survive boating accident

Mangalore, Aug 6, 2012 : Four fishermen, who were out fishing early on Sunday, survived a boating accident. The sea became very rough at the mouth of the estuary when fishermen were returning after fishing for half a day. A few other fishermen noticed that the traditional boat was in difficulties and rushed to their rescue.

The boat was hit by large waves when it neared the mouth of the estuary and capsized.

Three fishermen began swimming to the shore and the fourth one clung to the remnants of the fishing boat till they were rescued.

P. P. Siddique, owner of the boat, suffered a financial loss of Rs. 3 lakh as the boat capsized along with the catch.
