Udupi, July 18, 2013: Four persons were arrested on the charges of drugs peddling by the Padubidri police on July 17, Wednesday. Police also recovered 460 grams of ganja worth Rs 15000 from them. Apart from this four mobile phones and a cash of Rs 7350 was also recovered from them.
Those arrested are Shishir Suvarna alias Shishiya (20), a resident of Udupi who is said to be the prime accused in this case, Zainuddin (39) of Kasba Bengre, Mangalore, Hanif alias Rajesh (19) of Kanchinadka, and Mohammed Ashfaq (20) of Moodu Palimar.
The police who acted on a tip off arrested Shishir Suvarna when he was selling drugs in a bar at Padubidri. Zainuddin was later arrested on the basis of the revelation made by Shishir. It has been learnt that Shishir worked in a hotel while Zainuddin was a fisherman. The other two are painters.
The accused were produced before the court on Wednesday.
