
Moodbidri, Feb 20, 2012 : The valedictory ceremony of the 3-day rural sports festival held at Shri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple at Yedapadavu near Mijar was held on Feb 19 Sunday.
This event attracted people from far and near and thousands of people flocked to the venue to witness the events and participate in the competitions. A total of 64 events were organized as part of this festival.









An awards ceremony was held on the evening of Sunday, when trophies, certificates, and cash prizes were distributed among the winners. According to the organizers, a total prize pool of Rs. 9 lakh was distributed among the winners.
MLA Abhayachandra Jain said that Yedapadavu has become famous in just 2 years because of this festival. The prizes were distributed by Amarnath Shetty, the JD (S) leader and former minister; Ramanath Rai, the Congress DK unit president and MLA; Jagadeesh Adhikari, the BJP leader; Karthik Gowda, the son of CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda; and B. Nagaraj Shetty, the chairman of the Coastal Development Authority.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramanath Rai said that this rural sports festival has been attracting a lot of attention. Stating that the government has not extended any financial support for this event, he urged those concerned to construct a good road to the venue. He also promised to get government support for this event.
Vijayanath V. Shetty, the chief organizer of the rural sports festival, delivered the welcome address. Kantappa Shetty, the head of Bhootanatheshwara Bhajana Mandali, delivered the introductory address. Premanath Shetty and Navin Hegde read out the winners’ list.
The event comprised competitions such as cow decoration, rooster show, bicycle race, slush field race, beedie rolling competition, and others were also held.
