2 women killed in stone quarry blast

Udupi, June 20, 2012 : Two women workers at a stone quarry in Sooda – Nandalike died in a blast on June 19, Tuesday.The deceased are Ambike (24) and Mallavva (36), both from Uttara Kannada. They had been working at the stone quarry, which belongs to Joy Crusher Stones, for the past 5 years.

 

 

 

The Karkala town police have registered a case against Joy, the owner of the quarry, the manager of the quarry, and other staff members. The quarry is licensed in the name of Kiran.

Jagannath Rao, tahsildar of Karkala; Valentine D’Souza, circle inspector; Azmat Ali, sub inspector; and MLA Gopal Bhandary visited the place.
