Mangaluru, Jan 1, 2015: The first round of Pulse Polio Programme for the year 2015 will be held on January 18, as part of the National Polio Eradication Programme. The District Health Department will this time ensure that maximum number of children of migrant labourers are administered Polio drops.
Giving information in this regard at the preparatory meeting held at the DC office meeting hall, Dr Satishchandra, National Pulse Polio Programme Officer said it has been targeted to administer Polio vaccine to as many as 1,68,479 children below five years in the district. This will include an estimated number of 1692 children of migrant labourers, he added.
There will be a total of 921 vaccination centres, 10 mobile squads and 26 transit vaccination centres, Dr Rukmini M, District Reproductive Child Health Officer said. There will be a total of 3,808 staff to administer the Polio drops apart from 189 supervisors, she informed.
A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner presided over the meeting. Tulasi Maddineni, ZP CEO, Dr Ramakrishna Rao, District Health and Family Welfare Officer and others were present.
