17 year old boy drowns in Netravathi river while fishing

Uppinangady, May 01, 2023: In a tragic incident, a second PUC student who went to the Netravathi river at Sanyasi Kaya in Kempimajalu on April 30, Sunday drowned accidentally.

 

The deceased is Roopesh (17), son of Odiyappa of Bajattur village. He was a student of Uppinangady Government PUC college. Roopesh who was also a Kabaddi player had passed in the II PUC exams the results of which were announced recently.

On Saturday, Roopesh had been to a relative’s house at Kattechhar and had been to the Netravathi river along with his relative named Akhilesh when the mishap took place. Though Akhilesh managed to lift Roopesh from the water and made arrangements to shift to the hospital, doctors pronounced him dead.
