
Mangaluru, Feb 15, 2026: The 16th edition of the moonlight Jaya Vijaya Jodukere Kambala was flagged off on Saturday, February 14, on the banks of the Netravati River at Jappinamogaru.
The traditional Kambala is being organised in memory of the late J. Jayagangadhara Shetty of Mankutotaguttu. The event was inaugurated by Vithaldas Tantri of Derebail, who extended his best wishes to the organisers. S. Ganesh Rao, President of Karavali Educational Institution, presided over the programme.




Addressing the gathering, Honorary President of the Jaya Vijaya Jodukere Kambala Committee and MLA Vedavyas Kamath said the age-old Kambala tradition should be preserved and promoted, and assured all possible support.
Among those present were J. Anil Shetty of Mennu Thottaguttu, President of the Jaya Vijaya Jodukere Kambala Committee; Anantapadmanabha Asranna from Kateel Temple; Cooperative Ratna Chittaranjan Bolar; Monappa Bhandari; Praveen Chandra Alva; and others.
More than 120 pairs of buffaloes take part in the Kambala, which will conclude on Sunday.
