16 arrested for election malpractice in Bantwal

Bantwal, Dec 31: The Bantwal town police team led by Venkatesh Prasanna and Nanjegowda has arrested 16 BJP and Congress workers in Golthamajal zilla panchayath constituency for attempting to woo voters with money.

 

 

 

 

 

The police have also seized Rs 1.24 lakhs and mobile phones from this hyper sensitive constituency. They have also confiscated Rs 69,205 and a Scorpio vehicle belonging to BJP workers and Rs 54,000, 2 Tata Sumo vehicles and 1 Santro car from Congress party workers.

The arrested BJP activists are Jayaram Shetty, Srikanth Shetty, Swaroop Shetty, Charan Kumar, and Rajkiran and the arrested Congress workers  are Hassainar, Sharif, Nazeer, Louis D’Souza Suresh, Emmekere Salam, Jeevan, Prasad, Ozwald D’Souza, Roshan D’Souza, and Ashok D’Souza.

The BJP-supported Sadananda Malli and the Congress-supported Prakash Chandra Shetty were contesting the ZP polls in this constituency.
