14 people from Dakshina Kannada, 13 from Udupi test positive for COVID-19

Mangaluru, May 30, 2020: 14 people from Dakshina Kannada and 13 from Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. The discharge of 50 patients, five from Dakshina Kannada and 45 from Udupi brought big relief to the respective district administrations.

With the day’s development, total positive cases in Dakshina Kannada rose to 113 and total number of patients discharged stood at 44. There are 68 active cases in the distirct.

Out of the 14 persons tested positive in Dakshina Kannada, 13 had returned from Maharashtra and a 17-year-old boy (P-2871) from Pilar near Someshwar of Mangaluru taluk. He is a secondary contact of P-947, a woman from the same area who was discharged a few days ago. All were in institutional quarantine.

Of 13 who tested positive in Udupi, 12 had returned from Maharashtra while a two-year-old girl (P-2794) had returned from Telangana State. With this total positive cases in Udupi rose to 177 and 50 patients discharged. The active cases in Udupi is 127.

The Dakshina Kannada district has recorded six deaths and one death due to non-Covid reasons, while Udupi recorded one death so far.
