108 ambulance workers to organize state-level protest

Mangalore, Sep 27, 2011 : The 108 emergency ambulance will not be available on September 27 – 28 because all the health workers associated with this service will hold state wide protest rallies.

 

According to the health workers’ association, the agency operating the 108 service GVK EMRI is harassing the nurses, drivers, and caretakers associated with this service in spite of their dedicated service of 3 years. Therefore, the health workers have decided to protest against low wages and high working hours. The association says that all previous appeals have been ignored.

The workers demand that they be treated as government employees. They also demand a harassment-free work conditions and better job security.
