New Delhi, November 10, 2025: At least 10 people were killed and 30 others injured after a high-intensity explosion ripped through a car near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening. The blast, which occurred around 7 p.m. near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, sent shockwaves through one of the capital’s most visited areas.
According to Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, the explosion took place in a slow-moving vehicle that had stopped at a traffic signal, with passengers inside. “Other vehicles were also affected. All agencies are taking stock of the situation,” he said.

Visuals from the scene showed mangled vehicles, shattered glass, and charred remains, with at least 22 cars reportedly damaged. Witnesses described a “huge fireball” and a loud blast that shook nearby buildings.
The Delhi Fire Department said it received a call about the explosion around 7 p.m. “Seven units were rushed to the spot, and the fire was brought under control by 7:29 p.m.,” said Deputy Chief Fire Officer A.K. Malik. The entire area has been cordoned off.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) have been dispatched to assist local authorities. The blast came just hours after a massive 2,900 kg cache of explosives was seized in Haryana’s Faridabad, about 50 km from Delhi.
Following the explosion, Mumbai, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have been placed on high alert.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the situation, while top officials from the Delhi Police, NIA, and Intelligence Bureau continue to monitor developments.
Eyewitnesses said the explosion occurred in a Swift Dzire car that suddenly went up in flames. “The car in front of me exploded. I don’t know whether it was a bomb or something else,” said Zeeshan, an auto driver injured in the incident.
The nature and cause of the explosion are yet to be determined. The blast occurred a day before the second phase of polling in Bihar.
The Red Fort, located in Old Delhi, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a major tourist attraction. Security has been tightened across the national capital following the incident.
