1 tree and 11 electric poles crash down in Yekkur

Manglore, July 22, 2012: A tree fell on an electric pole in Yekkur, following which around 11 electric poles crashed down in the evening of July 21, Saturday. 

A fierce storm hit Yekkur at around 4:00 p.m., during which a large tree crashed down on an electric pole nearby. As a result of this, 11 poles fell down, and there was power cut in the entire area. The traffic was also blocked for a long time, but there were no casualties.

Earthmovers were brought to the area to clear up the mess, and Mescom linemen got to work to restore the power supply. 

A tree collapsed on the police quarters at Pandeshwar at around the same time. Although nobody was injured, a bike and the quarters were destroyed. The Pandeshwar fire fighting personnel cleared the tree.
