Mangaluru, Oct 3, 2026: Hasiru Dala project manager Nagaraj Ragav Anchan will undertake a foot march from Sampaje to Mangaluru from October 9 to raise awareness about cleanliness and responsible waste management.
The initiative, titled ‘Swachh Nadige’, follows a similar awareness walk he undertook last year from Karwar to Mangaluru to promote proper waste management.
As part of the campaign, Anchan plans to conduct cleanliness drives along the highway and in surrounding areas, interact with residents and encourage responsible waste disposal. He will also study the waste management practices and challenges faced by gram panchayats along the route.
The campaign will promote the use of cloth bags as an alternative to single-use plastic and include awareness programmes and interactions with the public, gram panchayats and local organisations.
Anchan has invited citizens, organisations and institutions to join the initiative at locations along the route convenient to them. Participants can contribute to the cleanliness drives for an hour, 30 minutes or any duration of their choice.
Organisations have also been invited to conduct discussions and awareness programmes on cleanliness and waste management, during which Anchan will share his experiences.
The foot march and cleanliness activities will be held daily from 6 am to 7 pm under the message, “Cleanliness is our responsibility.”
Anchan has appealed to citizens and organisations to support the initiative and contribute to keeping the district clean.
