‘Souharda Christmas’ spreads message of peace, brotherhood

Mangalore, Dec 15, 2013: Souharda Christmas 2013 organised at Milagres Hall in the city on December 14, Saturday,  spread the message of Christmas with joy and gaiety. The programme was organised by the Mangalore Christian Council, Mangalore Diocesan Ecumenical Commission, Karnataka Christian Educational Society, Chair in Christianity, Karnataka Missions Network, and Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights-Western Zone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mangalore Bishop Rev, Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza who was present as a chief guest,  said Christmas celebrations aim at spreading the message of love and brotherhood propagated by Jesus Christ. Christmas reflects God’s great love for mankind, the Bishop said.

Rev. Yakob Mar Elias, Metropolitan, Malankara Orthodox Syrian Diocese of Brahmavar who also spoke, expressed the hope that that Christmas drives away darkness and brings joy and happiness abound.

Rev Dr John S Sadananda, Bishop, CSI- Karnataka Southern Diocese,Rev Lawrence Mukkuzy, Bishop Syro-Malabar Catholic diocese of Beltangady were  also present as guests of honour.

A variety of cultural events including ballet, Christmas carols, orchestra and skit were organised.

Rev Dr Joseph Martis led the opening prayer. Fr Clifford Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Rev Thomas Chindwal compered the programme.
