"Postage stamps reflect historical significance": Sudhakar Mallya, SSP

Mangaluru, Oct 6, 2025: The Indian Postal Department has documented historical importance and spread its legacy across the country and abroad through postage stamps, said Sudhakar Mallya, Senior Superintendent of Posts, Mangaluru Division.

He was speaking after releasing a special postal cover at the Press Club on Monday, organised to commemorate the golden jubilee celebrations of the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association.

Mallya noted that the postal department has been providing various public services, including accident insurance and health insurance schemes, while also improving the quality of postal services. Through the “My Stamp” initiative, the department allows different organisations to issue commemorative stamps marking significant historical events, he added.

District Information Officer Khader Shah was the chief guest. The event was presided over by Srinivas Nayak Indaje, President of the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association.

Harish Rai, Press Club Trust President Annappa Mangalore, Maharashtra unit president of the Karnataka Working Journalists’ Association Rons Bantwal, Kasaragod unit president A.R. Subbiah Katte, senior journalists Anand Shetty and R. Ramakrishna, and state executive committee member Jagannath Shetty Bala were present.

Treasurer Pushparaj B.N. compered the event, and Vice President Bhaskar Rai Katte proposed the vote of thanks.
