’APATHBANDHU’- Training program of health workers in First aid & Emergency care inaugurated

Mangaluru, Mar 26, 2022: The inauguration of ’APATHBANDHU’, a training program of health workers of Kotekar village in first aid and emergency care was organized by Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, NU-MEDISIM, and Department of Anesthesiology and critical care, KSHEMA on 25th March 2022. Dr. Shripad G Mehandale, Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, KSHEMA, welcomed the gathering. Honorable Deputy Commissioner Excise, Mrs. Bindushree P, the chief guest of the program congratulated the management of Nitte University for organizing this unique training program to empower the health workers as the health facilities are very less in rural area.

Mrs. Malini, the CEO of Kotekar town Panchayath was the Guest of honour. She opined that many more similar collaborative activities to be conducted in the future for the development of the Kotekar village. The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University) Dr. Satish Kumar Bhandary expressed in his Presidential address that most of the health-related problems are the outcome of negligence and lack of awareness. 


The ’Apathbandhu’ is a new initiative focused towards the empowerment 0f the rural community in first aid and emergency care.  The tool kit of training was distributed to the trainees by the Honorable Vice -chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University). Dr.  Neetha Kamath, the program coordinator of ’The APATHBANDHU’ program spoke about the detailed activities of the training program. Dr. Srinikethan, Director, IIC, Nitte Deemed to be University was present during the program. Dr. Fatima D silva, Principal, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Mrs. Jeevitha Alva.
