Mangaluru, Aug 01, 2022: Following allegations by the Opposition that Karnataka’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is adopting a prejudiced approach in dealing with serial killings, Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood on Monday said the killers involved in three murder cases would not be spared irrespective of their ideologies or organisations.

The DGP was referring to the killings of three people, including BJP activist Praveen Kumar Nettar, in the Dakshina Kannada district in the last 10 days. "We will initiate action regarding all murders. We won’t spare any individual, organisation," he asserted.

While saying that in the last 10 days, three murders have taken place in Dakshina Kannada, the DGP said that there have been eight arrests in Masood’s murder case and two in Nettar’s case. Meanwhile, the car used in Mohammed Fazil Mangalpet’s murder case has been seized and its owner has been arrested.

Other accused would be apprehended very soon, said the DGP.
He added: "We will see to it that such incidents of violence won’t take place in future. The discussion will be held with the Police Commissioner, Inspector General of Police, Superintendent of Police and District Commissioner."

It is the civilians’ responsibility to share information about anti-social activities, which helps in early arrests. If we do not share information, then we will suspect collusion, Praveen Sood stated.

In response to recent murder cases, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed additional checks to be conducted at border check posts. An additional police force will be assigned to the Dakshina Kannada District, he stated.
