Udupi: Youth cooks up kidnap story to fleece parents ; lands behind bars

Udupi, June 29, 2022: A 25 year old man’s plan to fleece his own parents by enactinga kidnap drama, has landed him behind bars.

The accused Varun Nayak (25) who was addicted to gambling and was in Goa enjoying himself in a Casino with friends had called his parents on their mobile number and informed that he has been abducted by strangers and they were demanding a ransom of Rs 5 lakhs.

 

His concerned parents had lodged a complaint with the Udupi police. The police gathered information that the cell phone of the youth was in Goa location and sent a team to the town and found  the man enjoying in a casino.

He was brought back to Udupi and questioned when he admitted that he had cooked up the story to get money from his parents.

It is learnt, Varun was unemployed and even stopped his studies half-way through.

He has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
