Udupi: 12 tonnes of suspected Chinese garlic seized in raid on APMC market

Udupi, October 3, 2024: As much as 12 tonnes of suspected Chinese garlic was seized during a raid on the APMC Market at Adi Udupi by a team of officials lead by the Municipal Commissioner Rayappa. The raid followed complaints from public that Chinese origin chemically laced garlic was being sold.

Samples of the seized garlic have been sent for lab test and more action will follow once the lab test reports are received, informed the Commissioner.

The Commissioner has also warned of legal action against sale of any chemically laced food or vegetables.
