Mangalore, Jan 29: St. Aloysius College organized a national conference on Yoga titled “Integral Yoga Satsang” in its Eric Mathaias Hall on Jan 19, Saturday. Nitte Education Trust President N. Vinaya Hegde inaugurated the conference and said that yoga must be passed from one generation to the other.
Congratulating the organizers for organizing an event on Yoga, he said that Yoga is now no longer limited to India, but has spread to different parts of the world.
Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh was the chief guest of the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Suryanamaskara provides exercise to the entire body, adding that Yoga is the most ancient and cost-effective forms of exercise.
Principal Correspondent of St. Aloysius College Rev. Fr. Swebert D’Souza said that people are considered dead when they stop improving their bodies. Speaking of the importance of Yoga, he said that Yoga enlightens the practitioners and helps them become better persons.
Dr. K. Krishna Bhat delivered the keynote address.
Dr. Ganapathi Joia presented a paper titled “The Exposition of the Word Yoga,” Dr. Vanitha S. Shetty presented a paper titled “Role of Yoga in Women’s Health,” Dr. Prashanth Shetty presented a paper titled “Yogic Management of Respiratory Disorders” during the morning session.
