Railways likely to start Vande Bharat train between Mangaluru-Kochuveli soon

Mangaluru, Sept 10, 2023: The much-awaited Vande Bharat Express train is soon to become operational in Mangaluru, connecting the Mangalore Central and Kochuveli railway stations, according to a media report.

This vital service will be managed by the Palakkad Railway Division, with its commencement awaiting the completion of the maintenance line at Mangalore Central.

Progress is being made as we speak, with the installation of overhead electrical equipment (OHE) in one of the three pit lines, specifically the Attavar entry side, at Mangaluru Central. The completion of this crucial step is on the horizon.

The official announcement of the service launch will come from the Railway Board. This announcement will be made once both the maintenance line and the training of Vande Bharat rake operators have been successfully concluded. Sources suggest that this announcement, possibly within the next 10 days, will be marked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the service.
