Praveen Nettaru Murder Case: Police suspected to have taken Thalassery native in custody

Mangaluru, July 31, 2022: The alleged prime accused in the BJP Yuva Morcha member Praveen Nettaru’s murder has been reportedly arrested in Kerala’s Thalassery, sources claimed.

The special team of Karnataka police investigating the sensational murder has taken a resident of Paral into custody, sources added.  The police team, with help from their counterparts in Kerala, also searched the house of the accused. However, the police have kept the information confidential in view of the investigation, sources added.

Karnataka police have conducted a raid in the house of the suspected youth, who works in a chicken stall at Talasheri. Police informed that a group consisting of four men have unleashed the crime. The team arrived in Thalassery after examining the chats in a WhatsApp group, said a report in Kerala media.


Two accused, Zakir and Shafiq, who were arrested recently on charges of supplying information to the killers, were produced before the court. They have been remanded to police custody until August 3.

Moreover, 28 persons of interest have been detained and questioned in connection with the case.

A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths has already arrived in the district to investigate the Praveen Nettaru murder case, sources said. This is the first time that a case of communal hatred in Dakshina Kannada is being investigated by the NIA.
