Mother, child die soon after delivery; family alleges medical negligence

Mangaluru, Jan 22, 2022: The death of an infant and mother soon after delivery at a private hospital in Mangaluru on January 20, Friday caused some tense moments after family members alleged that medical negligence had led to the deaths.
Savitha (33) of Vittal origin was admitted to the hospital on Friday for delivery. However the baby died soon after delivery while doctors informed family members in the evening that even Savitha has passed away. Soon after relatives expressed anguish and blamed the doctors.
Reacting to the development, City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar has said that the family has been asked to speak to the doctor first. He said once they lodge a complaint, necessary action would be taken.
