Minister pays surprise visit to Minorities Boys Hostel; suspends officer over ill-maintenance

Mangaluru, Sep 06, 2023: State Minister for Housing, Wakf and Minority Welfare Zameer Ahmed Khan who is on a district tour, on September 5, Tuesday evening paid a surprise visit to the Minorities Post-Matric boys hostel at Valencia and expressed his grave concern over the lack of maintenance and cleanliness at the hostel.

The Minister immediately ordered the suspension of Taluk Extension officer Manjunath and also directed officials to serve a showcause notice to District Minorities Officer Jinendra and Warden Ashok.

The Minister also noticed that the toilets of the hostel too were ill-maintained. Students complained about the quality of food served to them and also that they were provided chicken once in 15 days instead of once a week and that the authorities were not adhering to the food chart.

They also complained to the minister that they have not been provided bedsheets and pillows and none bothered about their problems.
