Mangaluru, Sept 10, 2023: A delegation of Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Syndicate members of Mangaluru University met Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot at Raj Bhavan and appealed to hold the Ganesh festival at the Mangala Hall on September 19, like every year.
Traditionally, the annual Ganesha Festival has been celebrated at the Mangala Auditorium within the university campus.
The delegation emphasized that the relocation of the event from Mangala Hall to an alternate venue has deeply offended the sentiments of devoted attendees. The delegation further alleged that despite collecting fees from students for the cultural fund, the university claims to lack sufficient funds for the Ganesha Festival.
The delegation included prominent members such as MP Nalin Kumar Kateelu, MLAs Sunil Kumar, Vedavyas Kamath, Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, Harish Poonja, Bhagirathi Murulya, Gurme Suresh Shetty, along with former Syndicate member Ramesh K.
