Mangaluru, Nov 19, 2021: The city police have seized Rs 1.92 crores worth  demonetized currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations and have arrested three persons near Lalbagh on November 18, Thursday.

Those arrested are Zubair Hammabba (52) of Kannur Borugudde, Deepak Kumar (32) of Padil Veeranagar and Abdul Nasir of Bajpe.

City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar who provided the above information, said the accused had in their possession  demonetized currency notes of  Rs 1000 denomination worth Rs 50 lakh  apart from currency notes of 500 denomination.

The Barke police who were investigating a theft case, had  intercepted a car in Lalbagh area on suspicion on Thursday when the cash  was unearthed.

Police have seized the car used by the accused.
