Udupi, Jan 27, 2022: With no solution in sight for the Hijab row at the Government Girl’s Pre-University College in the town, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat who also happens to be the President of the College Development Committee has suggested that the six students who  want to attend classes wearing Hijab can attend online classes  if they are unwilling to follow the college rules.

Speaking to reporters, Bhat once again requested the six students and their parents to  abide by the college rules. He also suspected the hands of some vested interests behind this controversy.

The MLA also said if the demands of the students are yielded similar demands may crop up in other colleges. He said the students concerned had attended the college  without Hijab for nearly one and a half years and they can do so for another couple of months until the academic year ends.

"If the students and parents do not agree, then they can attend online classes and later appear for exams. They can then get admitted to some other college next year," he said.
