Fishermen warned against fishing near submerged vessel

Mangaluru, June 28, 2022: Following fears of a possible oil leakage from the submerged Princess Miral vessel that has submerged in the Arabian Sea near Battapady near Ullal, the Indian Coast  has remained on high alert and fishermen have been warned against venturing into fishing in the area where the vessel has submerged.

Efforts to extract the 150 metric tonnes of oil in the submerged vessel  is underway wth the help of Pollution Control vessel Samudra Pavak which has arrived from Gujarat, and other vessels.

Inter-tidal booms have been installed as a barricade in Netravathi estuary area to prevent a possible oil leakage.

A mock drill on the measures to be taken in the event of an oil spill continued on Monday too.
