Mangaluru, March 3, 2024: In a peculiar incident at Kondana Daivasthana, located within the jurisdiction of Ullal and overseen by the Endowment Department, a recently built Bhandara house was subjected to demolition this morning at approximately 8 am, orchestrated by an unidentified group employing a JCB.
Promptly responding to a complaint filed by Kotekar TP Chief Officer Anand, the Ullal police swiftly apprehended three individuals under various sections of the IPC and the Karnataka Prevention Of Destruction And Loss Of Property Act.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Muttana Shetty, Dheeraj, and Shivraj, who confessed to their involvement in the demolition. Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal confirmed the arrests, underlining the gravity with which the department is approaching the matter.
The motive behind their actions stems from a dispute involving the temple’s 16 Gurikararus. Allegedly, there was a lack of consensus among them regarding the construction of the new Bhandara house, which was deemed illegal and unauthorized. Despite having previously raised the issue with the AC and Tahsildar, no action was taken, prompting the individuals to take matters into their own hands and demolish the structure.
