Mangaluru, Aug.10, 2022: A Book on Iconic socialist leader and former defence minister George Fernandes titled ‘Bandh Samrat’ was released at the Press Club on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

‘Bandh Samrat’- Tales of an eternal rebel is the maiden book of Chris Emmanuel D’Souza, a Mangalorean who works and lives in Canada. Chris is a regular contributor in Express Tribune and many Mangalore based portals. He claims that  his book is not a Biography but a collection of events, life experiences, deeds and misdeeds of George Fernandes that coincide with India’s political saga. The book chronicles early life, trade union activities, political struggle and the illustrious public life of George Fernandes.

“The millennial generation is steadily forgetting the past heroes and it is essential to highlight some of the past glories of leaders who have significantly contributed in shaping India’s post independent political history” opined Mr. Chirs.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Narendra Nayak said (about George Fernandes)- “You can hate him or love him; but you cannot ignore him”. Mr.Alfred Maxim D’Souza and Mr. Cassin Rodrigues were also present.
