Mangaluru, June 20, 2021: A team led by Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan raided the marriage venue at the Mangaladevi Temple premises in the city on June 20, Sunday following a complaint that four weddings were being organised at the place in violation of the Covid guidelines. It has been gathered that four marriages had been arranged at the same venue including the wedding of the daughter of BJP’s nominated corporator Bhasker Chandra. Sources also revealed that over 100 people were present at the wedding venue.
Assistant Commissioner Madan Mohan who inspected all the documents relating to the permissions granted for the wedding, said the Temple Managing Board had permitted four weddings in violation of the rule and will face action under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
The AC took the Temple Managing Trustee Ramanath Hegde to task for permitting four weddings when Covid cases in the district have still not seen a downward trend.
He has also instructed to file case against MCC officials who gave permission for the four weddings,
MCC Deputy Commissioner Binoy and other officials were present.
