4 arrested for destroying CCTV, fencing at Someshwar beach

Mangaluru, Sep 13, 2022: Police have arrested four persons on the charges of destroying the CCTV and the fencing put up at the Someshwar beach in order to prevent illegal sand transportation. Police have also seized the tipper used by the accused.
Those arrested are Sooraj of Madyar Sainagar, Iqbal of Mudipu Madyanadka, Akhil of Talapady and Prajwal of Someshwar Mooda.
As sand was being illegally transported from near the Someshwar temple and Someshwar beach, the CCTV was installed as per the suggestion of the Deputy Commissioner and following complaints from local residents.
However late night on September 10, some masked men had damaged the CCTV. The Ullal Taluk Revenue Officer had lodged a complaint in this regard and the Ullal police who swung into action arrested the accused.
