Mangaluru, February 21, 2025: The 27th Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Literary Conference, organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, was inaugurated today.
The event took place at the Mangala Auditorium of Mangalore University in Konaje on Friday, with senior writer Dr. B. Prabhakar Shishila presiding over the conference.
Renowned poet B.R. Lakshman Rao, who attended as the chief guest, inaugurated the conference and delivered a speech.
Dignitaries present on the stage included Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr. P.L. Dharma, Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. M.P. Srinath, senior writer Bhuvaneshwari Hegde, former President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat Central Committee Harikrishna Punaruru, MUDA Chairman Sadashiva Ullal, Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation Chairperson Mamatha Gatti, Assistant Director of the Kannada and Culture Department Rajesh G., former Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Ullal Tahsildar Puttaraju, Ullal Taluk Panchayat EO Gurudutt M.S., Konaje Gram Panchayat President Geetha Damodar Kundar, and Mangalore University Registrar Raju Mogaveera, among others.
The conference organizing committee’s General Secretary, Dhananjaya Kumble, welcomed the guests. The event was compered by Moodbidri Taluk Sahitya Parishat President Venugopal Shetty and teacher Vijayalakshmi Katile.
The Kannada cultural procession, which began from Asaigoli Grounds and concluded at the Mangala Auditorium, was inaugurated by Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba.
