Mangaluru, June 5, 2020: Eight people from Dakshina Kannada and 204 from Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, June 5. With this the total positive cases rose to 768 in Udupi and 151 in Dakshina Kannada.
Among the eight positive cases in DK, seven are males, who are returned from Maharashtra and a female aged 60 whose source of infection is yet to traced.
As on today, Dakshina Kannada has 68 active cases and 76 persons have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. District had registered seven deaths so far.
Out of the 204 positive cases in Udupi, 157 males, 40 females and seven children. Among them 203 of them have come from Maharashtra and a police personnel in Udupi.
With these additions, Udupi emerged as the worst affected districts both in terms of active and total cases. The district has a total of 768 cases with 659 still being treated at the designated hospitals. The district has reported only one COVID-19 fatality.
