Mangaluru, January 18, 2022: "Wake Up Mangalore” a group of concerned citizens met the principal of  Ganapathy PU College, Hampankatta as he refused entry to a 17 year old unvaccinated student to the classroom.

A release from the Group stated that the college cannot force a student to take the experimental covid vaccine that has been recently rolled out for 15-18 year old individuals.

On January 17th, the members of "Wake Up Mangalore” entered the principal’s office along with the 17 year old student Sachin and his mother.

The principal said that it is not being forced but they only vaccinate students after they receive the parent’s permission. However this student and his mother have decided not to vaccinate him which is their right. But the principal has refused to allow him into the class based on his vaccination status.

The Group members informed the principal & the staff that they cannot discriminate against students as per their vaccination status and this goes against Supreme Court order, Health Ministry & ICMR guidelines and also goes against the student’s Right to Education and violates article 21 of the Constitution.

The principal later promised that he will discuss the matter with his superiors.
