New Delhi, Jan 22, 2022: In a massive global win for India, foreign countries and social media giant YouTube has clamped down on anti-India proxies just ahead of Republic Day.

The Government of India now hopes that the accounts banned on January 20 will have a similar fate.

Almost a month later, the Government of India, through the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, banned 20 YouTube channels and two websites on December 21. YouTube has now banned 19 of these channels globally and further taken steps against websites which were propagating fake news.

Moreover, fearing action in the global arena, several other YouTube channels have also started taking down anti-India propaganda videos.

According to sources, the I&B Ministry is further in touch with social media giants, and many more YouTube channels could be banned in the coming days.

Atleast three dozen YouTube channels operating from Pakistan are under active monitoring and analysis. Sources said that some of the videos posted by these YouTube channels were also recorded for further action. However, it has been observed that post the recent termination of 20 YouTube channels, these channels have removed fake anti-India content on their own.

The action by the Indian government has also rattled Pakistan, with an internal report of I&B Ministry suggesting that there has been a public outcry since action against 20 YouTube channels in December. In two strikes against online Pakistani propaganda, the Government of India for the first time banned 20 YouTube Channels and two news portals on December 21. In a second such strike, the government on Friday banned 35 YouTube accounts, two Instagram accounts, two Twitter accounts, two websites and a Facebook account.
