New Delhi, Oct 6, 2026: The Delhi Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly creating and circulating an AI-generated poster depicting Additional DCP Vivek Bhagat allegedly misbehaving with and molesting an independent female journalist, officials said on Tuesday.
The arrest comes against the backdrop of allegations made by independent journalist Rosy, who had accused the police officer of sexual harassment while she was covering a detention at Jantar Mantar on October 3.
Images purportedly showing Bhagat allegedly misbehaving with and molesting an independent female journalist went viral on social media following allegations against the police officer, prompting a probe into their authenticity.
The Delhi Police said on Tuesday that when its social media monitoring unit traced the account from which the images were being circulated, investigators found that it was linked to a YouTube channel called News Aiyna.
The investigation subsequently led police to 24-year-old Nadeem Ahmed, a resident of Haryana, who they said was running the channel.
Police said Ahmed was arrested and has been taken into police custody. Investigators allegedly recovered several AI-related tools from him and claimed that he admitted to creating the AI-generated material to portray the Delhi Police in a bad light.
According to police, the poster was created and circulated on social media as part of an alleged conspiracy to disturb peace and spread anarchy.
“His motive was to spread anarchy," police said, adding that sections related to rioting have been added to the FIR.
The police are now investigating whether other people were involved in the alleged conspiracy. Officials said efforts were underway to identify and arrest others who may have played a role.
Investigators are also probing whether Ahmed was being “handled by someone else" and whether the incident was pre-planned.
The Delhi Police said it was also examining whether the accused received any funding and whether there were any foreign links involved.
Police further said they were investigating whether Ahmed had any connection with the CJP.
According to the police, Ahmed described himself as an independent journalist when questioned. Investigators said he had studied at a madrasa in Saket and was a Class 10 dropout.
The police said the investigation is continuing to establish the full conspiracy, identify other suspected participants and determine the circumstances in which the AI-generated material was created and circulated.
